Only 2 of 18 precincts have enough Town Meeting candidates this year, leaving more than half of TM seats on the April 7 ballot without a declared candidate.

There is not a single contested election for any regular three-year TM towns, according to my analysis of a list of Town Meeting candidates provided by the Town Clerk's office. The lone contested TM seat is a 2-year vacancy in precinct 4. Ironically, while two candidates are vying for that spot, two spots for 3-year terms in the same precinct have no candidates.

You can see my version of the list, which uses one entry for each seat, below, as well as a map and graph of the data by precinct. Click on the map to see precinct information.

Overall, there are only 44 candidates for 72 full 3-year TM terms townwide, and just 4 announced candidates for 33 1- and 2-year vacancies, according to my count.

Tecnical notes: The listing from the Town Clerk's office was in PDF format; I converted it to computer-readable CSV file using Tabula software and then did further analysis and visualization using the R programming language.
