A lack of candidates for Framingham Town Meeting led write-in candidates to win seats in all but two precincts – and in a majority of precincts, at least one person won election to the town’s legislative body with just 1 or 2 votes.

In fact, more than 10 votes were needed to win a Town Meeting seat in just 3 of the town’s 18 precincts, according to my analysis of 2015 election results posted on the town website. And in half the town’s precincts, no candidate received more than 75 votes.
